Blueprint S470-5 Color Review

On August 23, 2018 Behr announced Blueprint S470-5 as their color of the year for 2019.

I’ve seen a few comments out there on blogosphere that Blueprint has a “hint of green”.

I don’t think it does. If you look at the color wheel, you can see that Blueprint *lives* over near the end of the Blue Hue Family close to the Purple-Blue Hue Family.

It’s not anywhere near green.

I think part of the problem is the digital color swatch on the Behr website is weird – it does look blueish-greenish.

Combine a bad sRGB value with the fact that everyone’s devices/monitors displays color differently and you get a hot mess of people thinking Blueprint is inherently greenish.

Again, it’s not under a balanced D65 Illuminant light source.

But, of course, the light is boss.

Anything is possible; it could shift from its hue family notation and appear green in certain qualities of light.
