Goals:
- to help students learn to see color in its three dimensions
- to teach a language that facilitates communication about color
- to introduce perceptual effects that can be used to enhance works of art and design
- to provide useful information that is based on well-verified, contemporary research
This follows the example of Albert Munsell, who devoted his life to clear communication about color based on the best scientific knowledge of his day. The Munsell system has endured since the early 1900s because Munsell established a firm scientific foundation for the system while addressing the concerns of artists and designers.
